Coloured Bathrooms from the 1930's to the 1950's

Posted 7th December 2021 by Mongers Admin

Most people that one gets to meet in this trade are secretly avid collectors of something, one of my passions is old trade catalogues, particularly from the major sanitaryware manufacturers. I have now quite a collection that has been assembled over the last 25 years. We use these, not just for reaseach, but also, quite often, for inspiration. Some of our favourites are the coloured illustrations from the 1930's - 1950's. In recent years Art Deco bathrooms have become popular again. These were produced originally in a few very select colours to which a few more were added in the 1950's, although the black and the 'colour and white' options were dropped.

We currently have a complete primrose yellow suite and a complete grey suite, both made by Standard in the 1950's but we are finding mixed coloured suites are becoming more and more popular amonst the more adventurous of our clients.
