Bath Resurfacing

Posted 24th November 2017 by

Antique and reclaimed baths are available in many shapes are sizes. I’ve had baths over 7ft long and some less than 4ft long. We always keep in stock a good selection of styles and sizes. Standard English roll top baths on feet are usually 5ft 6 ins long or 6ft with the tap holes at the end, the plunger style baths can be longer. We also have French single ended and double ended baths, usually these will not have tap holes. Then there are ceramic baths, curtain sided (Art-Deco) and some oversize square baths with panelled sides. Hopefully there is something available for bathrooms of all periods, shape or size. We have some coloured Art Deco suites also available.

The restoration process that we use on the majority of our baths is a resurfacing. The old bath is cleaned and scrapped filled to cover any area of rust. It is then etched to provide a good key and primed with a hi-build primer. The top coat is a two pack acrylic. It is then polished to give a semi-matt finish. We give all our baths a two year guarantee. With care the resurfacing should last in excess of ten years before it will need to be re-done. We can also offer a re-enamelling service if required.

Cracks in basins, broken cistern lids and WC pans can be treated in the same way.
