Maple & Co was founded by John Maple in 1841. Their store, in Tottenham Court Road, was by the 1880's the largest furniture store in the world, exporting their fine furniture to every continent. The company was most prolific in the late Victorian and Edwardian era, specialising in fine quality Arts & Crafts Furniture, designed and produced in their own workshops. During these times they also produced a range of sanitaryware. This is a fine example of an Onyx and Mahogany vanity unit.
